QuantumSI announces LeydenDb™, a multi-terabyte NewSQL database.

22.Sep.15-- Quantum Systems Integrators, Inc., aka QuantumSI, has delivered its first full production deployment of LeydenDb system, an innovative high performance temporal NewSQL system developed in house to address the demanding needs of at scale IoT, CDR, and PM storage.

Initial real world measurements at our first customer (storing several types of Call Detail Records) shows a constant loading/indexing speed of 337 Thousand rows/second (or 1.215 Billion rows/hour) of time-oriented CDR data. Remarkably these constant performance levels have been achieved and maintained using a single 2RU low cost commodity x86 server. Actual system tested: one (1) Xeon(R) E5-2630 2.60GHz CPU and four (4) Segate 4TB 7200 RPM 6.0Gbps SAS hard drives.

This innovative multi-user temporal SQL database maintains linear performance in excess of ten (10) terabytes of data. Despite LeydenDb's capability to handle massive data sets where most end-user queries are resolved in a matter of milliseconds.

QuantumSI is both proud and enthusiastic to base its current and future products, on LeydenDb now that is has been released from stealth mode. The ability to give our clients up to 100X database performance at scale using simple single server deployments is a clear strategic differentiator for our product line with a simple 'plug-in' upgrade to swap out more traditional (and much slower) database back-ends.

The name LeydenDb (pronounced: "Lead·ing Db") is derived from the device known as a Leyden jar, a system that essentially captures 'lightning in a bottle'. After constantly being disappointed with both traditional RDBMS and the hype from specialized database vendors, an early prototype of LeydenDb was created by QuantumSI engineers in 2011. In the next few years it was used internally at Quantum for several proof of concept technologies. Eventually in 2013 and 2014 it was christened LeydenDb and matured into a production at scale hardened system.

A single 2RU LeydenDb server can easily replace a massive forty (40) node MySQL cluster. Don't hesitate to contact QuantumSI for a white paper, or a direct engagement, to find out how LeydenDb can drastically reduce both capital and operational costs.

QuantumSI deploys Ericsson based HSPA and LTE CROME Performance Management System

16.May.15-- Quantum Systems Integrators, Inc., aka QuantumSI, completed a fully integrated deployment of its CROME performance management (PM) system for IT&E a wireless carrier based in Guam, Saipan, and Rota. This system fully integrates and automates all PM aspects of a both Ericsson HSPA and LTE based networks into a comprehensive reporting and analysis framework. The CROME system is an invaluable tool which is actively contributing to IT&E's ability to maintain and manage their actively growing network across Guam and the Mariana Islands by providing full ad-hoc reports in mere seconds on any needed KPI or formula.

With just two (2) days of on-site training IT&E's staff was empowered to to implement complex KPIs via the CROME formula specification GUI.

The CROME system allows both RF and Switch engineers to quickly develop, analyze, verify, and correct any KPI required in day to day operations and for final upper management corporate reporting. Once KPIs are modeled and verified then automatic real-time or periodic scheduled reports can easily be implemented.

The CROME performance management suite enables QuantumSI's customers to easily implement their own formulas and reports across disparate vendor equipment using a common intuitive GUI.

03.March.15-- Quantum Systems Integrators, Inc. completed and deployed its TAP Roaming Reconciliation System at IT&E Wireless, covering Guam and Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).

The customer had many Bilateral Roaming Agreements with other wireless carriers, but their process to reconcile charges between carriers was manual, time consuming, and prone to errors. QuantumSI developed and deployed a turnkey solution as an additional component to their CDR Collection Manager (CCM) system. The system collects and reads all necessary input CDRs as well as roaming partner configuration data, produces the required reconciliation records in the proper format, and sends them off to reconciliation clearinghouses for processing and billing.

The customer no longer needs to allocate staff for manually processing -- QuantumSI's software automatically performs all of the TAP processing and reports results to a web site for customer staff to review. This also allowed customer staff to quickly implement new bilateral agreements with new roaming partners and quickly enable TAP processing.

QuantumSI deploys a CDR Collection Manager (CCM) to IT&E in Guam in time for tight deadline

15.Jul.14-- QuantumSI delivered and customized its CDR Collection Manager (CCM) System at IT&E Wireless, coverting Guam and Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).

QuantumSI's customer was faced with a hard deadline to launch a new HSPA wireless network. But the existing billing system did not allow for processing of the new HSPA Call Detail Records (CDRs), so QuantumSI's customer could not bill their new subscribers. The existing billing vendor could not meet the deadline, and further was cost prohibitive. QuantumSI installed a turnkey hardware/software solution to collect all necessary HSPA CDRs and translate them from ASN.1 binary to a form suitable for billing, including identification of all necessary billing fields.

QuantumSI met the deadline of a few short months and delivered a working, automated system in time for IT&E to bill their new subscribers. The system also included collection of and processing of all legacy call record data, including GSM Voice/SMS and SGSN GPRS data records. In addition, the system processes "Event Data Records" of high data volume use and automatically sends SMS and emails to subscribers notifying them of their usage and possible bandwidth reduction. Other data types processed include "Usage Data Records" indicating bytes used and subscriber requests to "top up" or increase the data usage allotment.

QuantumSI deploys a full custom HSPA/CDMA/GSM/LTE Provisioning System in record time to IT&E in Guam

30.Jun.14-- QuantumSI delivered a fully functional Provisioning Gateway (PVG), a store front and back-office user interface that seamlessly integrates with back end hardware platforms and software sub-systems to automatically provision cellular phones across a multitude of switch equipment and network elements.

QuantumSI's generic design coupled with agile development allowed us to meet time critical deadlines that other vendors couldn't meet to provide a full custom provisioning solution. In just three months after contract award QuantumSI software was fully functional and in production at the customer site, complete with extensive validation and and auditing capabilities.

The customer was faced with a hard deadline to roll out a new wireless technology (HSPA) without having adequate means for store front staff to provision the phones. Other vendors were both too expensive and unable to meet the deadline. Quantum's solution came in on time and and on budget, successfully deploying a simple-to-use website that implemented complex back end communication with disparate devices such as radius servers (RADIUS), home location registers (HLR), home subscribers service (HSS for LTE), short messaging service (SMS), QoS throttling services (Sandvine). QuantumSI provided a complete turnkey hardware/software solution including onsite training during the rollout to ensure a smooth and successful launch.

Additional capabilities to provision in bulk and to report on all aspects of provisioning tasks completed the feature-rich deployment software suite.

QuantumSI CROME Performance Management supports Ericsson EV-DO

17.Jun.13-- In Q1 of 2013 after a head to head competition Quantum Systems Integrators, Inc. was awarded a contract to replace Ericsson's default EVDO performance reporting system. Quantum completed a full integration of Ericsson EV-DO Statistics into our premier CROME performance management product line. EV-DO is a CDMA standard for wireless broadband internet access. This new CROME deployment was first deployed under Ericsson's EEGS 1.1 vendor release. Quantum, as part of normal support, fully upgraded the Ericsson EV-DO to the newest EEGS 2.0 vendor release in Q2 of 2013.

CROME supports performance reporting for Ericsson EV-DO by collecting raw statistics files from the CEMS (AEM and AEC data). Unlike standard Ericsson OM data, the EV-DO data requires special processing to examine both raw stats files and MIB files, and calculate true bucket (or data peg) values. This processing is transparent to the CROME user, who sees the data as normal CROME tables and pegs accessible via ultra-fast ad-hoc queries in a multi-dimensional database. QuantumSI's generic design coupled with our product support ensures years of historical data can be accessed regardless of multiple software updates and revisions to the vendor equipment being reported on. QuantumSI implements tethering detection and notification at MobiPCS

15.Aug.12-- Many wireless carriers offer features in packages or ala carte, and as such they need mechanisms in place to ensure that subscribers are not using features for which they have not paid. One of these is "tethering", the use of a wireless device as a hotspot for other devices. This is becoming a popular feature and popular revenue source for many wireless carriers, but to provide this feature as a paid addition to service, wireless carriers need to prevent unauthorized subscribers from using the feature.

To do this, QuantumSI developed a complex and priopietary mechanism to detect tethering. When tethering has been detected, the software examines databases to see if the subscriber is allowed to tether. If not, QuantumSI software redirects the user to a landing page suggesting they pay for the feature. This has been a boon to our MobiPCS customer, who sold countless tethering packages as a result of this feature. [ more on CCM product... ]

QuantumSI implements Data Roaming Use Reckoning.

04.Feb.12-- QuantumSI has long supplied gateways to its CCM product to reconcile voice roaming between wireless clients. The CCM software has done this in several different ways, including mining of both roamer usage on the local carrier network and local carrier usage on roamer networks, and producing reports for both carriers. We have also implemented our CIBER Roaming Reconciliation system, to trade usage statistics between carriers using the industry standard CIBER records and public clearinghouses such as Syniverse.

QuantumSI now supplies the same reconciliation for data roaming. By analyzing data roaming activity on the local network, and local subscriber use on other networks, QuantumSI software is able to piece together monthly reconciliation reports for different carriers. Based upon rules set out in Roaming Agreements between carriers (that specify, for example, bytes per minute and exception rules), QuantumSI's software generates monthly web-based reports that reflect the exact dollar amount to be reconciled between carriers. QuantumSI CCM product enhance to support Data Use Throttling at MobiPCS

07.Jul.11-- With the dramatic growth in data services and data usage by wireless handset users and those using wireless for home and business internet, many wireless companies and looking for creative solutions to manage limited bandwidth. Since the CCM product manages both voice and data activity, including byte counts, it was a natural fit for QuantumSI develop portals to support bandwidth management. QuantumSI implemented a throttling system to track all subscriber data use throughout the billing period and reduce bandwidth on a subscriber-by-subscriber basis based on their usage.

This fully automated system recalculates subscriber data usage throughout the day and sends throttling commands as needed, resetting bandwidth when bills are paid, and produces reports for MobiPCS staff to track the system and report on its effectiveness. The system significantly increased MobiPCS's available bandwidth by limiting access to the relatively small number of high-bandwidth users, freeing up bandwidth for the majority of customers. The system has been a boon to MobiPCS's ability to manage their bandwidth. [ more on CCM product... ]

QuantumSI supports interactive user notices such as Pay Your Bill via F5 packet interception

03.Jan.11-- Wireless carriers are always looking for the best ways to digitially interact with subscribers for important notices and information. QuantumSI's toolkit has provides such features in the past via Web Services and automated SMS messaging, but the toolkit was expanded extensively when QuantumSI won the project to support MobiPCS's user interaction needs via their F5 Gateway.

The F5 equipment is an intermediary between Mobi's Hele users and the internet, so all traffic runs through the F5 for these subscribers' data usage. By writing custom F5 "Rules", and by interaction with our CCM system via a custom high speed database, QuantumSI was able to intercede with subscriber's web transactions and present important information in pop up displays. These pop-ups include "Pay Your Bill" messages and information about data usage exceeding the subscriber's plan, among others. [ more on CCM product... ]
