MCB Control/Status GUI installation for Win95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP Users:

This document specifies an optional download of a certified Java Virtual Machine and b) the download of an installer for MCB Control Status GUI for version 2.4.1 released on November 19, 2007.

QUICK START for Win95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP Users:

Step 1: Download and install one of the Java Runtime Environment ("JRE") installers listed below,

Currently QuantumSI recommends the use of JRE 1.4.2_12 or 1.5.0_07 (many other JVMs such as 1.5.0_09 will also work) from Sun Microsystems. After choosing and then downloading one of the two JVM installation programs listed below, be sure to install it by running it and answer all of the questions with the default choices.

Step 2: Download the MCB self-installer and run it:

Note: when prompted during the installation process, please use the password supplied by Quantum for this product.

Step 3: Launch/Configure the MCB Control/Status GUI Client:

The MCB client will need to be configured to contact your MCB server the first time you invoke the application. For Win95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP you should launch MCB via a start menu selection of "Programs/MCB".

To fully configure your MCB GUI client, please enter www.quantumsi.com, this is pre-filled when you hit the "Default URL" button, (or the URL of your internal company MCB master distribution server) and then hit the following buttons

• "Update from URL"
• "Save & Quit"

• Alternatively you can hit "Cancel", but you will not enjoy the latest MCB GUI updates.

One you configure the distribution server and hit the "Save & Quit" button you will be asked to update the MCB GUI client. After the update is complete exit the resulting information screen and restart the MCB GUI client from the "Programs/MCB" selection.

MCB Control/Status GUI installation for Solaris/Unix/Linix Users:

• Solaris 2.X mcb_sh
  install via 'sh mcb_sh'

• Generic mcb.class
  install via 'java mcb' or 'jre mcb'

Please note although QuantumSI makes every efffort to write fully portable management GUIs your particular operating system or versoin may not be supported.
